Justin S. Lee Talks 'Drone' and America In The Green Room

Our In The Green Room podcast returns with a fascinating interview with director Justin S. Lee, who discusses his arresting short film Drone. Lee goes deep into his past during an in depth discussion, which covers his experiences growing up in Taiwan, feeling culturally removed from his peers and being able to observe his home nation of the United States from the outside.

Drone tells the story of a rookie Air Force drone pilot who finds himself increasingly attached to a target that he watches from halfway around the world.

This ambitious film stars Teen Wolf's Daniel Sharman and Battlestar Galactica's Michael Trucco in a meticulously crafted production that challenges the audience's perceptions of right and wrong in the theatre of drone warfare.

We are treated to an intriguing look into filmmaking on America's west coast and some of the ideological challenges of addressing one of the most divisive topics of the war on terror. We are also given the measure of a filmmaker unafraid to swing for the fences, which has resulted not only in an outstanding studio-quality short film, which also became a student Academy Award finalist, but also led to collaborations involving some of Hollywood's biggest names.

We don't want to spoil the whole thing for you so you can listen to the interview in full below. You can also read our review of the film here.
